Research

The research program is designed for undergraduate or graduate students who wish to conduct an investigation in the Caribbean Region. We provide students with research ideas that correspond with the needs of communities and organizations, assistance with project and methodology development, housing placement, and assist in making contacts and gathering materials.

Sample studies include species diversity in organic banana farms, the impacts of eco-tourism on the community of Puerto Viejo, Indigenous reserve laws, community involvement in the management of Cahuita National Park, and production and marketing of alternative agricultural products.

As with other programs we offer research assistance combined with housing placement, Spanish language studies, and site visits, as desired by the individual.
